Elections Broadcast: Almost There

There's been a lot of work done over the weekend. The script is done and all the graphics are complete (unless I've missed one). Tomorrow we'll be finalising everything, so that we can do run throughs on Tuesday that will be as close to the real thing as possible. Things to finalise:

  • Edit the script to suit Spence and Harry's reading.
  • Have all VTs finalised and exported (including the FC7 export so they work on the VT machine)
  • The order of guests (we can only have 2 at a time)
  • Adverts

On Tuesday we will receive the sofa and coffee table (hopefully in time for the beginning of the run throughs). We'll have all the day's newspapers laid out on the table on Wednesday - these aren't written into the script. The idea at the moment is that if anything goes wrong - VTs aren't working, discussion isn't flowing, whatever - you can fall back onto the papers and headlines analysis.

Big Monday Things

There's no excuse, but I completely forgot about arranging adverts for ad breaks before this week. I'm trying to scramble something together, but just in case I will need to make a 3 minute WINOL advert. I have an idea in mind but I'm not sure I'll have time to make this, so Graham I'll need to talk to you about this and see if we can't sort something out - maybe give someone else this job.

Importantly, tomorrow afternoon we will have a run through of the script. I'm not sure when yet - I'd like to say as soon as all the VTs are done. 6 PM absolute latest. As I've said elsewhere, discussion will be at the heart of this program and so every one of you will need to know what the packages are beforehand. I want all the presenters and experts to watch them so they can prepare questions and comments to be thrown off the back of these packages.

We will then do a run a through of the script. I'll need presenters and experts there, as well as the director. We'll go through the entire thing at least once, preferably at least twice, to identify all the problems and issues and to increase your own confidence in your positions.

Roles

Once again here is a complete list of everyone's roles. All production people and experts should be on hand for the Tuesday rehearsal and of course should be in for 7 AM on Wednesday.

The online team should all be prepared to follow Twitter, BBC news live and every news stream possible on the day to collect news for the experts. We need more information than we know what to do with coming in!
