That's all the major jobs, and I don't think I've missed any.

Tuesday 30th October: we will have a dry run beginning at 1 PM. Everyone in production must attend, as well as all the experts. This will be a technical run focused around detailing everything we are lacking. We will use WINOL VTs and act out OBs as well as guests. There will be a script, and we will try to run for a virtual 15 minutes (in will not actually be that long as we lack the content at the moment) at a time.

Wednesday 30th October: presenter training for Spence and Harry with Angus in the morning.

Tuesday 6th November: we will have a rehearsal, with all our VTs and stand ins for OBs. OB team will be in London by 12 noon.

Wednesday 7th November: Production and news team must be in for 7 AM to set up the studio and rehearse, as well as update ourselves with the latest information.

That's all for now.

US Elections Plan

Editorial

Interviews/Contacts
Democrat
In contact with Sharon Manitta, press officer for DemocratsAbroad. Waiting for a phone call back on this.

Republican
No Republican presence in the UK, will ask if EIU can deliver.

Lecturers
I've emailed Carol Smith, head of American Studies and am waiting for a reply.

US embassy
I'm trying to contact them but missed their office hours (10am - 12pm) last week. Will contact them this week (1st October).

Who else?
Have contacts in Egypt (1 journalist and 1 political scientist), I want to bring at least one of them for a foreign affairs-led interview but haven't bagged them yet; still working on the contacts.

Have no other contacts otherwise.

Editorial roles
Editors: Ali, Ewan
Production: Graham, Henry
News: Dan
Online editor: Sam

Collaboration with EIU
Still waiting for meeting to be arranged. It will not be the entire EIU journalism body we'll be working with, they have decided to choose 'several' of their top/most interested students to work with us.

Production

How many cameras do we need on the night?
2 cameras for OB.
1 camera inside news room.
1 JVC camera recording endlessly in studio (to allow us to make interviews into vts we can rerun; we can record the show on tape as well and edit those but the JVCs and their SD cards are faster to edit from)

How many OB teams?
Planning for at least 1 in London at the US embassy, with 3 people. If this is arranged for certain a hotel might be necessary for the night.

When are we live from and to?
From 00:00 07/10/12
To 15:00 07/10/12 (at the latest)
Regarding the top editorial roles, 5 hour shifts for each person or cycling in and out as need be.

What streaming services will we be using?
Livestream (www.livestream.com) seems to be the most suitable and I'm aware that some media production students have used it to stream from the tricaster. I still need to experiment with this.

What jobs need filling?
Presenter – 1 per hour cycling 2 to 4 presenters in and out
Director
Floor manager
Usher
Tricaster
VT editors (prepared to reversion packages as news comes in)
Graphics designer
Online team: Youtube – Twitter – News tracking
News Agenda
Studio crew
Gallery crew
Camera man

What gimmicks might we be using?
News ticker.
Advertisements

What is our set/green screen/studio plan?

1. Interview area, with seating and if there are any interviewees through skype, a tv.
2. Presenter's desk.
3. Expert corner, a place where resident expert (George, Lou) stands in and talks for up to 1 minute 30 seconds if we need to fill time. Ideally we'll never have to throw to them.
